Rough
Justice for Colberters:
In
light of Leigh Colbert's 200 games this week I propose a motion that any
player who 'colberts' a club should have all those games wiped from their
official list of games. On this basis, Leigh Colbert is playing his 95th AFL
this week and as such is not a member of the AFL 200 club.

Does that include Ron Barassi? (colberted the Demons in '64)
- Eds

In
response to whether or not the colberting rule applies to RDB (as queried by
Ed) there is a little known fact that you may not be aware of. 'Barass'
returned to the Demons as coach in 1981 as many believe as part of a 5 year
plan to take the Demons back to their rightful spot as a powerhouse (of the
then) VFL, what most don't know is that the REAL reason behind his
return was to do what is commonly known as a 'reverse colbert'.
Any
colberter who returns to their 'colberted' club has automatic reinstating off
all previous wiped records of the club they 'colberted'. RDB would not give up
his credibility as a coach for nothing (let's face it he did F-all to help the
club as they had a virtual mortgage on the mahogany label during his tenure
there) - he did this to preserve his 204 games, 295 goals and 6 premiership
medallions with the Demons.
The
flow on effect of this was enormous..... it ensured he could then sign
all autographs with 17, 4, 10 (participated in 17 Grand Finals, won 4 as coach
and 10 overall and the numbers add up to his famous number 31 jumper). This
would not have been possible without the 'reverse Colbert'.
I
hope this clears this matter up for once and for all.

what
does that mean for Gerard Healy?
Ted,

Gerard
Healy....a true fact....every player who plays 200 games for Melbourne gets an
automatic MCC membership. It is basically automatic and only needs
ratification by the MCC board.
In
the history of this longstanding tradition he is the only player that has ever
been denied membership. It shows what the MCC members think of his colberting
of the Dees!!
Ted you will always have one up on the colberting brownlow medallist as,
unless he scums a guest pass off of one of his mates, he will never be able to
score a ton in the MCC toilets...
