^      Double colberter

**    When Moore lined up for his first game for Melbourne, incidentally against Collingwood, the Magpie banner read simply “Moore Filth”

***  Reverse colberter, and therefore redeemed

#      Many would argue that colberting a team merely in the hope of a better offer from somewhere else is an even more dastardly  form colberting. Few would disagree, least of all footballinvective.com

A litany of colberting out Footscray Road:

From the official Western Bulldogs club history

Under ex-Collingwood coach Bob Rose the Bulldogs made a welcome return to the finals in 1974 and 1976, but in the background there was bubbling discontent that manifested itself in such incidents as the social club closing its doors in 1976, and coach Bill Goggin resigning a week into the 1978 season.

Key players left or were traded and Footscray winced as Bernie Quinlan, Barry Round and Brian Wilson all went on to win Brownlows with other clubs.

Footscray's own Brownlow winners Gary Dempsey and Kelvin Templeton also ended their careers in other League teams.

Footscray languished at the foot of the ladder in the early 1980s as coaches Don McKenzie, Royce Hart and Ian "Bluey'' Hampshire came and went.

The arrival of former St Kilda and Richmond player Michael Malthouse as coach in 1984 signalled a turnaround in the on-field fortunes and in 1985the Bulldogs had a stellar year.

Shane Woewodin (colberted by Melbourne)

Michael Christian (colberted by Leigh Matthews, well his wife was)

Paul Hudson (colberted the Hawks for Bulldogs)

Ben Cousins (colberted by Daniel Kerr - see Michael Christian)

Kevin Bartlett (colberted by Richmond)

Derek Kickett (colberted by Kevin Sheedy)

Karl Norman (colberted by Lawrence Angwin)

- Matt, Melbourne

____________________________________________________________

Greg Wells - colberted Melbourne to play in a GF final with Carlton and(took at the time) the president of the MFC cheer squad who was so in lovewith him that she switched allegiances.

Paul Roos - colberted Fitzroy to play with the Swans - why?....why wouldn'tyou leave them?

Jade Rawlings - well and truly colberted the Hawks to go and play at Werribee.

Lawrence Angwin colberts Karl Norman by stealing his stuff

Thought of more:

Wayne Schimmelbush (colberted by Nth Melb)

Terry Wallace (serial colberter - colberts Hawthorn, Western Bulldogs)

Nathan Buckley (colberts Brisbane to play with a premiership side)

Dermott Brereton (colberted by Hawthorn)

Darren Jarman, Ben Allan (colberted Hawthorn)

Adam Heuskas (colberts Sydney, Brisbane, Port Adelaide, Chicks in London)

David Calthorpe (colberts Barry Young - see Wayne Carey)

- Matt, Melbourne

____________________________________________________________

Jim Stynes - colberts the whole of Ireland by being assistant coach of the Australian side against Ireland

Todd Viney - colberts Melbourne for Mark Philippoussis and then is colberted by Nick Philippoussis and comes back to Melbourne to revoke his initial colbert (now being assistant coach at Hawthorn it opens a debate for revoking the reverse colbert)

Joe Gutnick - colberts Brian Dixon (Dixon brought Gutnick to the club and led the campaign to get him president (of which he was supposed to be a member of his board) and when Gutnick found out he would never get in with Dixon on histicket he colberted him).

Lorena Bobbitt - does the ultimate colbert on John Wayne Bobbitt

As Libba actually played u/19s and reserves with the Shinboners does that class him as a colberter?

Incidentally, Norm Smith was colberted in famous circumstances by Jim Cardwell (with a reverse colbert just 4 days later)

- Darren, London

What about Andrew Jarman colberting Robert Shaw in 96 by refusing to play for him and playing instead for Norwood in the SANFL, thus ending the Crows career of both Robert Shaw and himself?

- Patrick, Adelaide

Some more suggestions:

Allan "Leigh Matthews has the Collingwood coaching job as long as he likes" McAllister for Colberting  Team of the Century Board member.

Dermott Brereton for doing a simultaneous double-colbert when he left Hawthorn for Sydney - went North for the cash and in doing so he managed to
a) leave a gaping hole in the Hawk forward line; and

b) nearly bankrupt the Swans and gave them nothing but Tribunal appearances in return (including one for stomping on Rayden Tallis' head, earning a 10 week ban)

Barry Mitchell for a similar simultaneous double when he colberted Carlton for Collingwood

John Elliott (board nomination) for colberting Carlton by signing Kouta to a 5 year megabucks deal.

Dennis Pagan for serial colberting of Corey McKernan

Justin Murphy (colberted almost every team in the comp, Richmond, Carlton, Geelong, Carlton)

Kevin Sheedy colberted Derek Kickett out of the '93 GF

- Marty, Port Adelaide

1. Surely Mal Michael has to take over at full-back for his sensational colberting of Brisbane prior to moving to Essendon?

2. Nathan Buckley's move from Brisbane to Collingwood surely qualifies as a comedy colbert.  You may recall that the initial deal which saw him move to Brisbane for a year before moving to Collingwood was because he "wanted to play in a premiership".  (Hardy-har-har)

Bucks has never lacked confidence either.  In one of Nathan's first games for the Bears, 300 gamer Roger Merrett took a mark 30 metres out directly in front.  Nathan, playing in his first couple of games, walked up to the Dodger, patted him on the arse, and proceeded to explain to Rog where he should aim and how he should kick it.  Good one, boofhead!
